At the end of my trainings when people come up to say how much they loved it, I always respond back by saying, “Great! What’s the main point that you are taking away with you?” If they stumble, or say “all of it,” or just keep smiling then I know I just gave them a feeling without content. The trick is to give them content attached to the feeling.
Another speaker friend of mine used to say, “What the tread tying your talk together?”
